Who's on at 9m this December 25th? Doctor Who thats who
Very exciting news for Doctor Who fans this Christmas, we get the Christmas special this time on Christmas day. Space "The imagination station" will be airing it at 9pm. Personally I'm looking forward to sitting on the couch after a massive meal of turkey and watching Matt Smith save a families Christmas.
Flame on!
(Spoilers if you haven't read the return of Johnny Storm) Ok so I was slightly off it took nine months but the Human Torch is back, and it turns out while he was gone he did like an additional 3 to 4 times, usually that takes the average comic book character a few years but no marvel kills and brings him back (off panel mind you ) four times just to really make it interesting. I will admit it was a good story, and I loved the last pannel with Spiderman standing at the Gate and Johnny going "Peter what are you wearing?"

Fanexpo you impressed me
I just wanted to say this anyone who knows me has heard my opinion and how I felt over last years Fanexpo in Toronto. With out going into it in detail again I'll sum it up simply........IT SUCKED BIG TIME.......... I think anyone who was there last year can understand what I mean.
This year however I have to say things ran alot better than any of the Fanexpos I'd been to in the past. Even with the weather causing some celebrities to be delayed, and Elvire being sick (but she still showed and was wonderful, way to go Elvira) To all the comic book writers and artist who I met and got books signed by I say thank you, to Fanexpo I say thank you to the 5 book rule this year it made things move so much faster, and as a fan I only bring a few to get signed, I dont bring a long box of all the same issue for ebay purposes (you people suck). To all the celebrities I got photos with and had photos signed by again thank you (especially the ones who spelt my name right). And lastly Spacecast you guys are great AJ and Teddy wonderful hosts and so friendly (Ottawa West-side vs East-side). So HobbyStarr I don't know if you actuall listed to the fans complaining about last year or it was the fact it was in a larger venue or the fact that many people didn't go this year because of last year, or if it was a combination of al of the above but I can only hope next year is as good if not better

DC's bold plan, for good or bad its coming
So DC comics is planning a big relaunch, wow never seen that happen before, at the end of the summer. Several major characters are getting revamped and several minor characters are getting frontline status.
And just like most fans I'm not thrilled by what they are doing. I realize that DC is doing this to attract new younger readers, but Ithink they don't realize how much this is going to drive away loyal readers from them. Everyone has seen the pictures going around and maybe even the preview comic showing pages from a few of the new titles. Now I must admit the one with Batman running over the roof tops and Green Lantern blundering into him and going all shocked at discovering he's real is actually quite good and reminds me of Jim Lee's Allstar Batman. but Superman in a tee-shirt jeans and construction boots kind of leaves things well f@#*ed.
So I write this having just picked up the first new issue of Justice League and the final issue of Flashpoint. We'll see which one is better and I'll post my comments on that soon.

Super Super Bowl Ads
So one of the greatest parts of the Super Bowl is the ads and this year there was a big Geek element to the ads. There was a huge amount of movie trailers and of course they were all geared to everyones inner Geek. Thor, Captain America, Cowboys and Aliens, Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Transformers darkside of the moon. and well more. Even the commercials for products got in on it as well. I have to say the lil Darth Vader ad for Volkswagen wins as the cutest commercial I have seen in ages. So I have to say I like how this years Super Bowl was not just for the Jocks this year.

Fantastic Four flop
As a comic reader i would have to say one of the biggest things I have read this week was the Fantastic Four issue where one of the famous four was to die (spoilers from here on in). Now anyone who has been reading FF know that this storyline has been going on for about a year now and I have to say the suspense was more than the book turned out to be. All this lead up, some great teaser marketing, The comic was sealed in a bag with a 3 symbol on it instead of the 4 and if you wanted to know what happened you had to buy it, so you open it and we get "Johnny's last stand". Yep that is what they called it, notice it wasn't "Johnny fights to the death" cause we don't see him down, we don't see him dead, we don't see pieces of his body being thrown around. He just disappears under a sea of bodies and that's it. Well we all know what that means (whisper) "he's not really dead" I know huh! wow who thought Marvel would do that, leave a back door in there for him to come back. Cause the only person that Marvel keeps dead is Uncle Ben, and heck he shows up often enough some how too.
So here is my prediction, in about 4 to 6 months some massive crisis will happen and the FF3 will have to go to the negative zone and there they will stumble across Johnny Chained up somewhere in a prison cell with no memory of who he is kind of looking like Namor the Submariner did when Johnny found him all bearded up. All in all i think it really weakened a great storyline with a wishy washy ending that you new wasn't true......Shame on you Marvel for making me buy that. Oh and one more thing DC Comics did the whole black bagged comic up better the first time round with the "Death of Superman" which surprise surprise didn't last long either.
